Art Therapy by Vilija

Art therapy is one of the branches of therapy, that combines knowledge about art, psychology and psychotherapy. This method helps to express your thoughts, feelings and experiences by painting, drawing, glueing or using any other form of art.
Art therapy is not made for people who want to learn how to paint or to create an aesthetic work of art. This method does not require any artistic capabilities, but the process itself is very important in order to heal, learn and calm down.
What and whom the art therapy is good for?
Art therapy can be applied in various ways- for children and adults, people with special needs, individuals who are struggling with traumas, frightening memories or upsetting emotions, also persons with serious medical health conditions or disabilities such as brain injury, cancer, depression, autism, anti-social personality, dementia or pregnancy. Furthermore, it is for people seeking personal growth and increased self-esteem or people experiencing stress, anxiety and other problematic behaviors. As well as for people who aim to improve their relationships with their spouses, for couples or for business people who are looking for ways to motivate their employees and be more effective and efficient at their work. Every situation is unique and therapy methods differ from person to person depending on their goals.
How can art therapy be beneficial and helpful?
It encourages to communicate better, reflects your emotional and mental state and helps with understanding, accepting and managing your feelings. It can be beneficial to anyone due to the fact that a person who is in a creative process goes deep into their conciousness which helps to fulfill their potential as well as it causes positive thoughts, emotions and confidence in yourself.
Art therapy can be done individually or with groups of 5-8 people. There is a possibility to choose to do it online or in person.
